On June 4 the British Watford Colosseum hosted a joint recording of the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, Sergey Smbatyan and the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) to be released with the famous Naxos label.
It is noteworthy that Maestro Smbatyan and the London Symphony Orchestra, in line with other works, have also recorded Aram Khachaturian's Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia from the ballet "Spartacus" and Edward Mirzoyan's "Shushanik" lyric poem. It is an unprecedented phenomenon that the London Symphony Orchestra records the compositions of Armenian composers. One of the goals of Sergey Smbatyan's activities is to promote the Armenian musical heritage worldwide and the recording with LSO is one of the steps towards achieving the goal.
To remind that Smbatyan and the London Symphony Orchestra’s previous joint recording was held in April of this year.
The producer of the project is a Grammy Award winner Christopher Alder, who produces the recordings of the world's most famous classical musicians and collectives. His recordings have won a number of international awards and are featured on the world's best platforms for selling classical music collections.
LSO is one of the best orchestras in the world. It was founded in 1904. The orchestra has closely collaborated with such famous conductors as Claudio Abbado, Leonard Bernstein, Carl Bohm and others.
