Sergey Smbatyan, the artistic director and chief conductor of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra is invited to make a speech during the festival in honor of the legendary Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki. The festival is devoted to the 85th anniversary of the composer and will be held in Warsaw, November 16-23.
During the festival, symphonies and chamber works will be performed, composed at different times by the great composer.
World-renowned musicians are invited to the festival to present Penderecki’s art in their own interpretation. Maestro Smbatyan will conduct the orchestra Sinfonia Varsovia in Warsaw’s Philharmonic concert hall. Symphony No.2 “Christmas Symphony" by Penderecki is in the concert program.
The Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and conductor Sergey Smbatyan closely cooperate with Krzysztof Penderecki. The latter visited Armenia in 2015 to participate in events devoted to the 10th anniversary of the Orchestra. During the year 2018, concert series and festivals devoted to Penderecki’s 85th anniversary will be organized in different countries of the world.
By the way, the events devoted to the great Polish composer’s anniversary started in Armenia, in February. During the concert series “Penderecki Days in Armenia'' the composer’s works were performed, many of which for the first time. The great composer himself was present at the concert series. That time Penderecki noted that Sergey Smbatyan was invited to Warsaw to take part in the festival devoted to the composer.
Reminder: on November 25, Symphony No.2 “Christmas Symphony" by Penderecki will be performed by the orchestra Sinfonia Varsovia under the baton of Sergey Smbatyan in Katowice, Poland.
