The project “ClassA” organized by the Armenia State Symphony Orchestra in cooperation with the RA Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Culture, refers to classical music.
The name is symbolic; it consists of the stem “class” of the word classical, and the letter A presenting the 6th note Lya (Latin-la) used to tune all the musical instruments.
“ClassA” is aimed at teenagers’ cultural education. The Armenia State Symphony Orchestra initiated this project as a new approach in the sphere of esthetic education. Due to this project, classical and national art, as well as high values will be promoted among teenagers, which certainly will become the base of forming a more educated and progressive society.
The project “ClassA” will be carried out in 35 high schools in Yerevan, involving 13532 pupils of 10-12 grades and of ages 14-17. The project has three stages; the Symphony orchestra members headed by the art director Sergey Smbatyan will perform preparatory activities with the pupils at schools. Later, the pupils will be given the chance to listen to specially prepared concert series by the Armenia State Symphony Orchestra at the Aram Khachaturian concert hall. It is remarkable that mainly the works of Armenian composers are included in these concerts.
